Wencing Cornejo; or, More Fun at MTV Pilipinas

Got a good laugh out of this entry over at Quark's LJ.
- HALE AND artofvalidation's all-time faves CUESHE PERFORMED ONSTAGE TOGETHER! holy moley! i almost wet my pants! and KC introduced their set by giving a definition of Pogi Rock. whoever wrote the show's script is a genius. does anyone have a pic of what Cueshe was wearing that night? brilliant! 'truly madly crazily' guy was wearing a trenchcoat and 'if you stay i'll understand' guy had A PIN ON HIS CROTCH. to quote GVSB, "amazing! sensational!"

- and then to cap it all off they both do a rendition of Pogi Rock Legend AFTERIMAGE's "we are next in line" and Champ was actually hanging his head in shame (i swear i have never seen him so wistful). the poor guy was wencing while playing the chords (wencing... get it? wency cornejo? no? fuck you.)

- Mitch said he saw Cueshe backstage and asked them if they were ok. and they said (well, according to Mitch) "siguro inaapi kami dahil mga Jeepney driver lang kami" whaat? are they inventing this whole 'jeepney driver' background to make people guilty about hating them?

BWAHAHAHA!!! :D In other news, apparently "SCREAMING ROOM is proud to present "Good Stuff"... a retrospective of music videos, short films, TV clips and other oddities by the recently awarded MTV VMA Best Director R.A. Rivera. Mag:Net Katipunan, Monday August 29 at 9pm. only 50 bucks to get in, and that's consumable." That's tonight!

Wow! They love us. At least I think they love us, because for all I know they might be all sarcastic, just like we* were when we wrote in that bit about pogi rock.

Flashback to our first script meeting...

Marketing peep #1: Why don't you play up the "pogi rock" bit?
Me: Because it's not a compliment. "Pogi rock" is slightly derogatory.
*cellphone rings*
Executive producer: That was just them. They don't want to play "Next in Line" daw because they don't want to open with somebody else's song. Can't they have brought this up earlier?!? goes on about how many headaches this particular performance has given them
Me: Ah, really? Hang on. (writes the words 'pogi rock' into the script 23x)

MWAH HA HA HA HA!

Yes, we're evil. But before everyone starts hating us, please note that we were also responsible for the touching bit that The Late Isabel delivered when they presented the Best Indie award. We have hearts, too.

*What? I'm not taking the blame for this alone.

Also, this bit from Quark:

"Wow. ang dami na nating awards. kelan kaya tayo magkakaracket?" "(wow, we keep on making art. where is the money papa lord?)"
-RA Rivera, on furball

Oo nga naman, Papa Lord.

Hi Jas! Sure :) And hi Quark! :)

Kristine and I were talking yesterday about the pogi rock label (by which I mean the way some bands are designated as being pogi rock, not an actual Pogi Rock Record Label, although that would be funny). "I'll bet Kitchie or Barbie wouldn't mind being called Beauty Rock." "Pretty Rock?" "Cute Rock?"

Or, as Stonefree replied when I interviewed them and asked how they felt about being called pogi rock, "Does that mean pogi kami? Thank you."*

*For the record, they were well aware of the derogatory connotations, and were just being flippant.
